Al's got himself a right cozy little home since he moved south.

EDIT: Do you suppose that thing actually goes fast enough that those water skis can be used?

It's slightly better that my last abode.

The Christmas tree on the top deck was pure genius.

Well, it is the season. By the way, my cat enjoys the skis.

OK, I can believe it would go fast enough for a cat to be able to ski behind it. I'm not so sure it would pull you up out of the water, though.

The Quadrantid meteor shower should be peaking tonight at just the right time for viewers in eastern North America. If it's clear in your neck of the woods, ~3 a.m. is prime viewing time. 60-120 meteors per hour may be visible if you let your eyes acclimate to the darkness for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

I don't expect I'll be spending time outside looking, though. Tonight is projected to be the coldest night of the winter here thus far. Nothing horrible, but a low of 0 F is expected.

Cool, thanks for that info, CP. I'm going to try to check it out. It might look even more interesting to me considering my eyesight.

No surprise, but now the specific numbers are available-- this was the warmest December ever for all of northern Michigan. The average temperature in the Soo was 33.7 F , which is a whopping 11.5 degrees above normal.

5.41" of precipitation made this the 2nd wettest December ever. However, most of that precipitation was rain. Only 10.4" of snow was recorded, which is 23.1" less than normal for December.

Don't forget to take off your protective shades. Cool

I only have to wear the eyepatch when I go to bed.

Well, it finally seems like winter here.  In the teens with a couple of inches of snow on the ground.

Avatar of Cystem_Phailure

At 3:25 p.m. it's made it up to +9 F here. Last night's low of +1 was the coldest of the year, but still not bad.

Avatar of Cystem_Phailure

Not much temperature variation ahead for my neck of the woods, according to the current model. Look at this 4.5-day stretch starting tomorrow with only a 4-degree F total variation over days and nights. The blue line is the freezing point.

I remember those days. It can be a funky situation when the temps hover around 32F. Have to be extra careful when trekking, even if it's only to the mailbox.

I actually like that forecast. I hate cold, which is one reason I moved.

The only thing that might give me pause is the history of lightning and tornadoes. If your area is not prone to them, I would be on the course asap.

Avatar of Cystem_Phailure

You like a forecast of 39 C ? It's been a long time since I've suffered heat like that. I think there's a real possibility now that I would just crumple and die within 5 or 10 minutes of being out in the open sun on a golf course at that temperature.

Avatar of AlCzervik

I really do not have any issue with heat. I'd rather wear shorts than be bundled in layers when it gets to where you are.

When it has been that hot, I drink more water. And I'm fine.

I've spent too much time in the cold, and my perspective is because I worked outdoors in Chicago for years.

40th floor next to Lake Michigan. Working constructrion where the area is open. And, the nickname of the second city as the windy city is apt. It fits.

Try to imagine being 400' above ground, working, when the temp is 10F. That's the ground temp without wind.

There was one day where coworkers and I simply said we would not work anymore. The projected high temp that day was 6F. We are at work at 6am when the temp is well below that.

I don't know how I did it for so many years, but I'll never go back to it.

It's not a matter of just wearing shorts for me. It's not possible for me, legally or physically, to take off enough clothes to be comfortable when it's hot. And the hotter it gets, the more stupid I get. My brain stops working properly. Looking at voting trends in various regions across the country, I figure I'm not the only person afflicted that way.

Avatar of AlCzervik

Haha! The warmer the climate, the dumber people are!

I will tell you that gf and I have regularly worn next to nothing. We are simply soaking in the warmth (she is from the North, like me).

If you lived next door to us, we wouldn't care if you chose to be on the balcony naked. And, I'm certain you could wear shorts and not worry about an arrest!

Regarding how higher temps seem to disguise your view, I doubt it would happen. You're too bright to allow outside influences to affect you.

Avatar of AlCzervik

I have known for some time that you like where you live. Change of seasons and not dealing with humidity and high temps.

Good.

But, you are dealing with what I left. The snow, sleet, cold.

There are tradeoffs. If you're happy, I'm happy for you.
