And she been carrying a knife in her back. That can't be safe for children. And who put it there?
Batgirl the forum savior
@batgirl's been posting new topics everyday faithfully these days. And no, the quality has not be affected by the quantity at all. No count/race to 100, no AMA, no lol, no rip, no make this the greatest thread etc.
This is just not acceptable. The mods should do something about this immediately.
She is actually trying the raise the community's awareness of and appreciation for chess and its related history. She's increasing our signal to noise ratio.
This must be stopped. She might actually save the forums
That's not how sarcasm works....
Btw forums need to be saved I agree with Bunny, Batgirl is one of the best topic creators here (absolutely no sarcasm).
Most of her topics don't even go beyond 2 pages. Nobody's having mature "no u" battles there. Nobody's just posting "yeah" or "wut" or "huh" or "I'm bored" there.
How is this serving the community? Where is the senseless noise that we've grown accustomed to, that we rely on to drown out the chattering voices in our heads that we so desperately try to ignore?

The forums used to be a place for intelligent conversation. Now they're like an unsupervised daycare. It's bad enough that Off Topic is no longer usable but I can deal with that. It's Off Topic, after all, and almost anything goes. Unfortunately, the nonsense is spreading to the other forums. Batgirl has been striving valiantly to bring some meaningful content back but I fear it's like trying to stop a flood with a screen door. I applaud her efforts. I have neither the temperament nor the patience for such civic minded work. I'm willing to let people wallow in their own filth as long as I don't have to wallow with them.
"There are other worlds than these."
Nonsensical topics or posts used to be weeded out by the "older guards" but this is probably now termed toxic bullying. Perhaps there were some initiation rituals and soft ragging to get newbies familiar with the community. Sometimes it probably went overboard as well.
But now it's a safe space for every one whatever their actions or intentions.
Noise wins.
The real shame is that the newer members don't even know how wonderful this site and community used to be before the toddlers arrived (to borrow a phrase). As you suggest, any attempt to enlighten the masses is met with spam and derision. Ah well, we have known the days...

This brings back fond memories...
I think having many new memberes is great. I'm just put off by how many nonsense threads there are. Like I said, if it stays in Off Topic I may not like it but I'll deal with it because it's Off Topic. But trying to have a normal conversation in a thread is next to impossible with so many people spamming drive-by "Hey" or trying to promote their content here or at another site. Like I'm actually going to go visit some spammers page or youtube channel. I make it a point not to visit anything promoted by the spammers so they're really defeating their own purpose as far as I'm concerned.
