Well the other reason I didn't block them, was because in addition to my free speech stance, blocking prevents people from posting in any thread started by the OP. Blocking someone should only block them in the thread you blocked them in. Also, if they turn your thread into a dumpster fire, I think it’s safe to block them.

We still don't know what happened, mods haven't explained yet.

I’d assume it was the trolls, they decided to go crazy.

Did you block Dio? Always a good first step. Occasionally, threads can be returned with some comments removed. I doubt it will happen in this case: too much to go through.

If the trolls "went crazy", they certainly should have been blocked immediately. The mods see it as irresponsible to allow a high level of, sort of, uncouth comments. I must admit that loads of childish comments by trolls are tedious and they ruin threads, so they should be blocked. The other thing is that there probably was a conspiracy among the obvious suspects to shut the thread down.

They always get sarcastic and very defensive when such things are mentioned. They pretend there's no troll cabal and represent every such suspicion as delusion. I don't know whether they imagine they'll be believed when they protest their innocence or if they just deny it to keep up appearances. Depends on how intelligent they aren't. They might be so dim they don't know they're doing it; but I doubt that.

Looks like my thread is gone. I guess the mods decided that I won the argument, that I successfully defeated the sea level rise, stronger storms, and dangerous climate claims. I must have debunked that scam so throughly and they were sick of the drama queen insults and personal attacks from the other side that they figured the debate was over, I won, and that could be delete

I'll be quite clear about this: your quoted post is either wry humour or as utterly delusional as a flat Earther (who use very similar reasoning).

The scientific status of climate change remains just the same, the global agreements remain, and your poorly informed gut claims, based on the shallowest and least reliable understanding of the phenomena concerned have zero relevance.

When you start to learn that in a demanding technical subject you need to start by learning about what people with vastly greater knowledge, expertise, computational resources and time than you have concluded before you come to any conclusions of your own, you will start to have worthwhile opinions. This may never happen.

It's a difficult one. A little bit of trolling adds life to a thread and makes it popular. Some of the mods are such killjoys though and they don't realise that. Martin Stahl's completely ok so far as I can see ... but some of the newer ones.

If the trolling goes on, there comes a point where you might give them one collective warning and then maybe tell someone who makes an offensive post to remove it and remove THEM if they ignore the request. If they were offline and didn't see your request, that's too bad. They shouldn't have ignored the warning. Doing that inevitably loses more than the one you block but if its a healthy thread it will build up again and people will know you mean business. You can always unblock someone and see what happens.

I've had perfectly healthy threads closed because they were spammed while I was asleep and I don't bother to make new ones any more. Moderators can be slightly dumb too. happy.png

You shouldn't use the word "delusional", since it's better not to imitate someone who is obviously delusional. It's offensive and childish to use such words, especially since the thread title was obviously meant to be provocative.

I used the word in a factual sense, referring to EE's described fantasy scenario, which certainly has no relationship to reality. The moderators' motivation certainly did not even slightly resemble what EE said.

The title of the forum was not an issue.

Avatar of Optimissed

I do understand that and of course, you're right in your second sentence but he was being ironic.

2023 looks set to be another record year for oil. Alarmists keep spamming every little helps. The energy hungry 8bn+ must be fed.

I think Endgame bumped into a new mod by the name of Nicolas Cage...... because his threads are Gone In 60 Seconds. happy

As usual, you are full of it. I wasn't even around for the bulk of yesterday and certainly not when the thread disappeared. This is just another event you will weave into your delusional narrative.

As for blocking me on this thread, go for it, I don't care much either way. Block everyone under 169 IQ, then you'll be safe... wink.png

If you don't want your thread to go the same way as Endgame's, block the troll. He's really thick and so he can only be dubious entertainment value at best.

Always desperate for someone else to give you some measure of the revenge you can't manage to achieve...I really have no intentions of posting in Abyssal's thread at this point, so if you would like to actually help him not have me around, stop obsessing about me and mentioning me every other post.

Avatar of Optimissed

I think there's only one person here, perpetually looking for revenge.

It's quite clear. If Abyssal wants his thread to go the same way as Endgame's, he leaves you here. Sooner or later you'll attract all your troll and spammer friends and the thread will be blocked or deleted. It's clear they thought the other thread was pretty bad because they deleted, rather than blocked it and let it remain to be seen. You basically caused that, probably deliberately. If you're here, most people will never comment because most keep well clear of you. I won't comment much because of the nasty smell but others will react more strongly than that. If you're here, it dramatically increases the chance that the thread will be reported. That's all I have to say on the subject.

Too much already, given that you weren't even around to know anything that happened.

Increasingly their fertiliser comes from renewable energy with the contribution rising 130% in a decade (much greater increases in solar and wind - hydro cannot grow as fast). A nice complement to the entirely sustainable capture of sunlight by crops.

Fossil lovers need to demand that people use oil lamps to provide the light for crops instead in order to be consistent in their irrational prejudice against renewable energy.

As for preventing hunger, Ethiopia achieves this with 92% renewable energy now. The main threat to food security there and in other parts of the world these days is climate change, which is impacting agriculture.

OK but it was a continuation from the last two threads, one of which was deleted and the other I'm blocked from, both of which you caused. But I'll let it go. Stay or go in peace.

I wonder if @elblocko known to prepare a post without mentioning those hopeless intermittents solar panels and windmills. Any country with a fair portion of so called renewable energy within its electricity supply mix will be receiving the majority contribution from one or more of the non intermittent so called renewables. hydro, wood burning and geo thermal.

I might add fed energy as light, heat etc, usual level of comprehension skills from @elro.

What trends might the country being showcased by @elro Ethiopia indicate, emissions profile (wuhan slowdown aside) rapidly increasing.
