Startled, a squirrel fled from the bush up a tree. "I should stop feeling chased," Elizabeth said, shaking her head. A girl stood behind a thick oak, watching her. The squirrel jumped on her shoulder.
"Let's go, Max," she whispered softly. She turned away and walked into a side street away from the park and into the heart of London. There was a bicycle around the corner. She swung up and started peding. Suddenly she became very sad. No, she thought. Please not now. Her eyes flared up and the world collapsed. She fell. The accident. Your parents. Grief splashed over them like a tidal wave. She didn't care about her scraped palms but just ran off. The road was deserted, the bike left it. She just ran, ran until she couldn't anymore. She was not a normal person. She was one of the lights. When she stopped and gasped for air, she noticed the cold. But she had disappeared as quickly as she had come. She frowned.
Elizabeth strolled through a small park with her friend Jasmin. She had told her everything; of the letter and the encounter in the side alley. Jasmin had listened attentively and was very excited when Elizabeth told her that her eyes had lit up. After she had finished telling, Jasmin was silent for a moment. They had meanwhile sat down on a park bench. Jasmine leaned back. "This is... crazy," was all she had to say. Elizabeth just nodded. Suddenly she pointed to a bush very close. "What was that?"
"What?" Jasmin asked back.
"There was a noise!" The two girls stood up again and walked slowly towards the bush.
