You should always expect to get mated when your king is on the 7th rank

If the white king gets checkmated on f7, then something probably went really wrong with the king being lured out into the open. White's queenside pieces on a1, b1 and c1 are also still undeveloped. This is not what winning chess typically looks like, so following opening principles more closely will probably help you.

Always make sure your king is safe before attacking

This doesn't always mean castling, but at your rating it's easier to just remember to castle early before doing anything else
