Okay, I love lists, so why don't you guys list the greatest pop music(no classical, nor jazz) of each decade! I'll start with the seventies, but if you feel confident, list the best of earlier years.

Top five of the seventies: The Rolling Stones; The Sex Pistols; The Who; The Velvet Underground; The CarpentersWink

Hi, Lisa!

Top five of the eighties: Cocteau Twins; The Cure; Jane's Addiction; Ministry; U2

  Top 5 of the 60's;

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan

I like the bluesier early Stones, and I like Hendrix blusier offerings. I think Hendrix should be considered one of the great blues artists (Red House, Catfish Blues, etc.)

Overall, I think the Beatles were the best band of the 60's.

Honorable mention:

The Kinks, Cream, Iggy Popp and the Stooges, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, I'm sure I've left some off the list.
