Paradise (fiction by Hawaiian King)

INTRO

IN THE BEGINNING, There was Paradise. The entire world, a lush garden teeming with life and abundance. The birds of the air and the fish of the waters knew no limits. The world was pure, and Paradise was a beacon of light to the four corners of our universe. But darkness was brewing. An ancient force, made only to destroy the light that Paradise provided. And in the early years after the dawn of the universe, it did just that. The darkness overcame the light that Paradise freely gave, and the garden was broken up into four fragments that hurtled across the universe. These small pockets of Paradise still provide some light to the corners of the universe, but it is dim and dying. The ancestors say that a keeper of the light will rise up and restore the excellence of Paradise and destroy the darkness and it's forces.

CHAPTER 1: A New Light

Mano. He woke up with his own name bouncing around his head. That was the only name he had ever been given. When he was left on the doorstep of an orphanage at only six months old, that was all he had. A note with a single word on it. Mano. Now, seventeen years later, he was only a few months away from being eighteen, and his life was in danger. He had been living in an abandoned lighthouse for a few months and everything was going great. He had a job at the local surf shop on Oahu, and could afford enough food for three meals a day. But now his home was in ruin. Earlier today three people had tried to abduct Mano. The only thing that set them aside from regular islanders was that they had no faces. He had used his old baseball bat to fend them off but they left him with a chilling message. 'Darkness is coming.' He used the lighthouses telephone and called his closest friend Patrick Pekileki to see if they could meet and talk.

"OK, slow down," Patrick said slurping an iced tea on the beach they always met at. "They had no faces?" Patrick was a fifty-two year old and like a father to Mano. Although he was significantly older, they were best friends and like a small family unit.

"That's right. Everything was normal but they just had blank skin where their faces should have been," Mano replied. "And they said darkness is coming," Patrick stated, thinking the phrase over. "Probably just some kids with masks pranking you," Patrick finally said.

He was probably right Mano thought. Nothing to get too worked up over. Still something just felt wrong. As Patrick leaned back in the hammock and drifted off Mano looked out over the water, and heard the warning repeated in his mind, 'Darkness is coming.' The sun started setting, so Mano left Patrick and made his way back to his old lighthouse. By the time he reached it, the sun was gone, replaced by a full moon, and sky full of stars. As he walked in the front door, he flipped the light switch but nothing happened. He knew his home was beaten up from the attack earlier but he didn't know how it would've affected the electricity. He reached for his baseball bat that usually sat in the umbrella holder, but it was missing. He could barely make out the silhouette of a figure standing in the shadows that seemed to draw the moonlight towards him and absorb it. And that was the last thing he saw before his own bat knocked him unconscious.

I see that the Leoverse has begun. As for my reaction to this story, let me quote Thor:

"This drink, I like it. Another!"

Yeah, hopefully I can write that soon. I'm also writing another story for a different club, so I'm trying to balance getting both of the stories done.

Yeah. I also have my reading list that I'm trying to scratch some books off of, and I'm in the middle of my first game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Hawaiian_King
ohh i got invited to play that before but i never did what is it?
JasonGrace2017

It's a very complicated roleplaying game. So complex that the instruction manual is 200 pages long. I'm not even exaggerating

But I mean, it's fun. Right now I'm an elf that can use magic. I serve Loki and I'm always promoting his cause, but I'm also really bad at lying. In our last battle, a monster latched onto me and me brain dead; I got revived, but I've lost like half of my intellect. That's actually what my character's been through
