Good stuff chaps!
The Beatles songs sure were short in length, but I guess leaving the audience longing for more was part of their musical talent (charm)!
I think most pop songs were well under 3 minutes back when the Beatles started out. There's something quite charming about such short songs. Taking out all unnecessary and leaving only the best bits.
In the latter times it's the opposite: songs are sometimes artificially stretched out. Case in point:
I feel that this would be one of the very best songs of Oasis if only they knew when to finish it. Ironically it may have been the Beatles who first started this trend with Hey Jude.
