Wow. TJ Jackson!

Where I live there is a private college. It used to be a Presbyterian college but now it's secular.  It was founded on land donated by a Revolutionary War general and the seals on the diplomas were designed by a man most people believe was Napoleon's Marshall Ney.  Anyway, Thomas Jackson's second wife was Mary Anna Morrison, one of the daughters of the first president of this college. His other daughter, Isabella, married Daniel Harvey Hill, the commander who won the Battle of Big Bethel, one of the earlier Civil War conflicts. Hill is buried in the cemetery at the college. Thomas Jasckson, of course, isn't.

Presbyterian....that explains why a friend of mine went there.  Or I should say, heard of it in the first place.

Came back 4 years later with a Carolina accent.

It's a beautiful, old campus, almost needless to say with lots of Magnolias.  But in the past decade or so a lot of the charm has been developed out of the area and the population growth/traffic has made getting through it a nightmare even on bicycle.

I don't play turn-based chess, although I used to.  I know it affords people the means to have a sort of time-delayed dialogue.

In your own games, other than the game itself, what do you and your opponent tend to talk about?

Mostly enjoy laughing and tossing down aa few drinks while spinning old skool vynil records from symphonies to funk. But mostly enjoy making new friends and laughing at silly stuff that happens like this: A friend recently inviting someone to our team and as he typed in the persons name he received an onlne chat request in a pop up add, which we all think is hilariousLaughing It pays to get premium.

Ronald be jamming.

Mostly when I play turn based games here with my chess.com friends, I would love to know more about their culture and country , so I would start asking some questions, but most of the time my opponents seem to not be interested in talking. Only person who seemed to talk about his culture and ask about my country and about the lives of the people here was egoole. I really enjoyed talking to him, haven't seen him in the forums for a while.

Dlittle231

Hello shine5 I am interested in other cultures and history

Batgirl:

Most chess players here are males. Males usually only talk when there is a need to exchange information. So in fact most of the time the only words are "Hi" at the beginning "Thanks for the game" at the end and sometimes a comment on the decisive position and critical moves in the game.

The bigger the generalization (3 billion+ for this one), the more suspect.

Much of the world's fictional literature throughout history would indicate that men often express themselves beyond the need to simply exchange information...
