The only thing that would change is I’d have more fancy cars and more houses. Maybe a yacht if I was feeling spunky.

People here seem to believe it’s easy to simply dump 1 billion dollars into charities. For the sake of simplicity I’m sure you’re implying that you’ll have 1 billion in your bank account. In reality good luck trying to get any bank to clear that. Another thing people seem to not think about here is taxes, you won’t have a full 1 billion dollars unless you commit tax fraud. The tax for prize money such as this is 24%. That’s if you win the lottery. There goes 240 million of your now claimed billion dollars to the IRS. Now there are ways around paying such a large payout, that us wealthy people do that makes your taxes go down significantly. However, you being a previously average American would not know these methods. But for the sake of simplicity you end up hiring a good CPA and paying only 15% as you should, because extreme wealth tax is BS. That still only leaves you with 850 million. This is a substantial amount of money. However still good luck holding this in a bank account. My bank caps my checking at 2 million. However if you’re a wise rich man, you never put all your money into your bank because you stand a good chance of making very large amounts of money by simple compound interest. Particularly with this level of cash, simply returning 7% annually of 850 million dollars is more money than an average man makes in his life span. By doing NOTHING. This is the true power of large sums of cash. You can make money without working, and that is something you need to consider because you can instead of just dumping your initial capital into charity, you can make recurring payments with millions of dollars for years and leave it in your will to donate the rest.

Eh??? Nothing about winning it in the title. Just "if you became a billionaire". For me, I'd put it all into a trust and build centre's and employ people to meet the needs in those localities. Just throwing money at people solves today's issues but not tomorrow's. I'd teach people to fish for life not give them fish for a day.
