The issue of storing nuclear waste is rather less intractable than the issue of global warming, if we address it without recourse to nuclear power.

To much nuclear waste will kill us faster than global warming, it’s also super expensive

so we can excavte to mars before that lol

Psychology mad cool

It’s not that easy to get a billion people to Mars it’s going to take a long time to build space infrastructure, and if we don’t start now, we won’t have enough time

Once you build the reactor..of maybe half a billion dollars..the next steps are comparatively cheap...uranium 235 you can get large amounts in a few thousand dollars...you have to realise the imcredible extent of energy you get from 1 single reaction..enough to last for a month or so...which in the big picture makes it one of the cleanest sources of energy

nuclear waste is hard to dispose..but wont cause global warming...if safely disposed...its completely neutral once the reaction has already taken place and the neutrons being emitted have been used to create energy =)

The waste will still emit radiation and to much of it can damage the earth, and kill us faster than global warming, also 500 million for one reactor? That’s not going to work to put those all over the world

And Jupiter is super far away

And we need enough oxygen and other utilities which is not possible right now as the pandemic has crossed a huge downfall in the Economy.

We even need to build suitable places to live on Mars, only then can we even think of moving there.

elon musk is panning to drive tesla car in mars before 2026

And it takes years for the waste to become neutral

mars also has no large sustainable water bodies found till date...so transport will have to be done on a regular basis costing way alot...
I think people are gonna be transferred to one of the dwarf planets which has water...its setting up of stuff will be expensive, but then its much easier to continue =)

Mars isn’t happening for at least a decade, we don’t have infrastructure to send things into space without a massive amount of fuel

There’s ice at the top of Mars

mars has high radiation
