I'm talking about that selection "show book" in the menu when you are in a game. I only see this when I am playing on my phone.
For the longest time when I selected it, I got the message that there was "no results"
But I just tried it now and it gave me the name of an opening. We are only on move three but the selection of moves it gives for the supposed opening is move 7.
I'm assuming that it didnt' give me results before because we were too far along in the game. I'm wondering now why it is giving me statistics for move 7 when we are only on move three.
I guess I just want to know how to use this feature. Hopefully this is the correct forum to ask this, it seemed as good as any. I'll repost in general if I don't get an answer here.
The "book" is the same as the opening explorer on the website. It shows you the stats of moves that have been made in master games. If it says "no results," then the position you are showing on your board did not occur in any of their archived games. As far as showing the wrong move number, the opening explorer can also show you lines several moves ahead of the current position. You may have accidentally done that, perhaps is you set up a position on the analysis board before tapping the "book."
