Vote Chess > Filter by number of members

Hey fellas,

I wanted to share with you guys something that has been bothering me since I joined chess.com (under the name Floyyd, 2 years ago):

When I create a Vote Chess game, it's either I create an open challenge that anyone can accept, or I need to find a specific team and send the invite, without knowing if they will accept or not. For us to be able to play more Vote Chess without the frustration of playing against a team 20 times bigger, could you guys allow us to use 2 filters to chose the minimum and maximum number of members of the teams who can accept the challenge? Kind of like when we chose the min and max level in correspondance chess when creating an open challenge.

If you like the idea, please let us know!

Cheers,

Greg

hello Napa,

I do not know whether it is useful to limit the number of participants ..... Also applies to us. The fact that the opponents may be more, I do not think will affect your challenge. The team that has a person with high ratings, it can, only with this, fight opponents even if they were to be hundreds. Indeed, in my opinion, the more is the most disadvantage because all votes are worth the same and not always agrees with whoever has the highest rating if it does not explain all of its proposed move. Often we tend to watch and vote for the obvious move. I think it's more useful to act in a sort of rules of procedure where it is determined how to vote but also when to start voting. In practice I think it is more useful to empower a team leader (you) who decides, among the many proposals that have been launched to vote, the best move and then vote on it, the rest of the team.

I agree with Andrea, I don't understand what difference the number of participants makes in a vote match. In many cases a large number of players on what team can lead to "drive by" votes for poor moves which are voted in by people who ignore the discussion.  I play vote chess with a small invite only group and we are far more effective than a large group in most cases even if they have some very strong players because they don't play as a team.

I totally agree with you guys. Vote chess in high number is sometimes just driven by vote or convincing mistakes. However in the big vote chess teams with a good number of high and decent rated players, everyday of the week you see activity in comments, lines, discussions. In small group sometimes, the smallest number don't allow as much coverage of the different possibilities, especially once the middle game comes to an end.

I take your point but that's more go to do with your team needing a few more players than the make up of the opposing team. I have seen games with 6-8 active players against a large group and sometimes the large group ends up with onbly one or two voters.  E.G. Power of Chess if losing will end up with one or two guys dragging a game out...
