Petition to give all 2000+ rated players free Diamond Membership

I think offering free diamond membership for members who are rated 2000+ in any of the three main time controls (Rapid, Blitz, Bullet) would be a great change for many reasons. First of all, many strong players would rather play on Lichess because they have many of the chess.com diamond membership features for completely free. If every 2000+ rated player was given free diamond membership these members would likely stop playing Lichess and move to chess.com. Lichess would look a lot less reputable if they had no good players on the website and these players likely are the main donators of Lichess, so the website might even have to shut down or start charging money, either of which bringing more players to chess.com. Doing this will further strengthen the monopoly chess.com currently has on online chess. Furthermore, this change will encourage people to improve their chess skills. People will start playing more and actively try to get better, along with becoming more active and they might even buy a membership themselves thinking that it is a good investment as it will help them get a free membership later. Additionally, the amount of people who are actually 2000+ on this website compared to the people who aren't is very low (maybe like 0.1%), so chess.com will lose a very small amount of revenue and would definitely make more money from the high volume of lower rated players being encouraged to spend more time on chess.com. This change would also be a nice reward for strong chess players and would increase the amount of appreciation they have because they have likely spent lots of time and dedication on chess and it would positively impact their opinions on chess.com, so when they do things like recommend platforms for other people or stream themselves playing they will likely choose chess.com as their go-to platform.

It's unfair because they get diamond memberships for free while se don't

KafkaOnTheLeft

Maybe membership pricing should increase with your rating, like income tax brackets....

CaramelIsSnowy

to be fair I only tried chess.com for the community

ManchesterCityFC1543

Well people who don't get it don't lose anything, in fact they have the opportunity to improve and get 2000 to get it for free

I gave very good reasons

TheFlyingDorito

Well, there's many people out there who are above 2000 in any of the three areas, to provide them with a free diamond membership would just be bad business.

Pretty sure that's not something that would happen. Too many negatives, not enough positive.

The reason we think your trolling is because you created like a 700 comment fight about making under 500’s not have free speech

You're just trying to make chess.com lose money
