Chess.com's approach to getting more premium members

I just got a message today telling me that ads were not shown for a week or so. Now, they want me to sign up for premium because of this. Well, chess.com, that kind of thinking may have worked in 2000 when Netzero and AOL were getting people to sign up for dial up and offering no ads for members.

Today, what members need that you don't have are the following:

1. EASY TO ACCESS SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

I know, I know, you have something on Google. However, to get me to sign up I would want something in the TV icon section telling me what is coming up. I don't want to go to Google to find out your events.  Too many times, I see articles written about events that already took place. Ironically, if you advertised them I would be able to tune in live, but you are using no advertisements as a way to get me to sign up for premium. This needs to be reevaluated. Advertisements are good, and having some idea of what is coming up, not what happened, is going to improve your user base.

As an example, you can look at the playchess program and site features at chessbase.com

When you load up the program or visit the site, on the left are a list of tournaments and events clearly marked and ready to go. This is what I would love to see at chess.com and would be a factor in deciding to go premium.

2. Instead of watching amateurs on Twitch or the same hosts over and over and over and over again with morning shows or quick games, I would love to see IM/GM analysis of top GM tournaments while they are happening (Tata Steel for example). I understand you may not be able to show live video of the event, but you could have the IMs or GMs talk about the moves as they are played. I understand this is all legal to do. Chessbomb does this, just not with video analysis.

This would make me consider signing up for premium also. And, I don't want to have to go to Youtube for these broadcasts, either Twitch or another streaming site. Please consider using Google services less. Give other sites a try. This would get my financial support.

3. Last suggestion for this post, why not have some higher rated players that do shows go to these threads and comment on games posted and answer questions. If I saw a sense of interaction with hosts, then this would also get me to want to sign up for premium membership.

Please consider these improvements to the site. Get away from fast chess and Google services please.
