Well, as Einstein found out a minute is not always a minute. For example if you play chess in an airplane your time will run slower. Hope this helps.
when is a minute not a minute?
If you play chess while driving in a car going in reverse, you can actually gain time.... or possibly a hospital stay.
been there. well from a programmers point of view- the termination countdown starts when the player is disconnected, in this peculiar case i believe, the player is online and offline at the same time. Online cause the play is going on and offline cause the player aint playing- a case will be that his play got disconnected and on reconnection the phone hanged, hanging would cause no signal to be sent and though reconnected he cant play. hope this is it. :-)
In lichess app, player is informed if the opponent walks out 🚶. U can claim victory in that Chess app. Also there is a option to ask ur opponent fr re move, if u mistakenly move other piece.

So your saying the player is like Schrodingers cat - dead and alive at the same time. Quantum chess!

I would like the first instance but i am not too sure about the 2nd.Although having the option would be alright.
First off i would like to say i love this site. I have been a member for over 3 years and don't plan on leaving anytime soon. There is however one thing that really bugs me. Whenever you are in a live game and your opponents disconnects you are told your opponent has one minute to connect. This is simply not true. The time before they are forfeited varies widely with each game. I was playing white the other day in a g/10 tournamen when my opponent disconnected on the first move. He was not forfeited until he had 5 seconds left on his clock. I had to wait nearly the entire 10 minutes. This is very boring and a waste of my time. You never know how long before a game will be awarded,it is different with every game.
