Google "florida chess association"
If it's a good site (looks like it's not) they'll have a list of club / events that are easy to find.
But also, find an upcoming Florida tournament
e-mail the TD / person they give as a contact.
Ask about local clubs / events.
In just a few minutes I found this guy:
Jon Haskel (jon@bocachess.com)
In Massachusetts I can play a rated game in 5 different clubs every week. All within an hours drive of my house. If I move to Florida on the gulf coast from Sarasota down to Marco Island it doesn't look like a much of a Chess community. Please advise. Thanks
