copying moves from other board

I am not sure yet of what to do.
I don’t know if they know or if they don’t care.
I noticed at move 6, these two exact games identical positions. At move 10 now, and they are still identical.
I don’t know if he will change later on in case it would be a losing position in one of the games.

i did post a video, did you not see it it shows the magician you cant play chess beating masters in a simul by letting them play against each other-of course he losses as many games as he wins

That video is blocked in the UK because of copyright. I don't know about elsewhere.

Tell them, and let them decide what to do. There is no reason to keep it a secret. Congratulations on noticing this, I think that it is funny! happy.png

Testaaa I’m on my phone, so I don’t think I can post a link atm. Just look at the games I’m playing, follow the tourney I’m playing in, then you will see two games that have reached 11 moves. Tell me if/when you have noticed.

This was also occuring in a novel by Sidney Sheldon, letting two masters play against each other in separate rooms and their opponent just copied the moves.

I once played a team match in which after 15 moves we reached exactly the position on the neighbouring board, although with a totally different move order. Then the games deviated again and we lost both...

If all a chess player wants to get out of a game is seeing someone else's moves, they might as well just read a chess book or review master games on line. That would probably mean more to them in the long run and not waste as much of their time.

I read a funny short story a long time ago about a GM who was challenged to play a simul of just 2 games, one with Black and one with White. If he got a positive score he would win a lot of money. He knew his opponents were patzers so he happily took the bet. After a while he realized they were copying his moves, and a 1 - 1 score would win the bet for them. What to do? ... He made an illegal move and moved to the next board. The patzer copied his illegal move. 'You can't do that' the GM shouted. 'Play something else!' Confused, the patzer did so. The GM then went to the other board, apologised for making an illegal move and played something different. Unfortunately the patzer had accidentally selected the very best move, so the GM had to play an inferior move, and soon lost both games. So sad happy.png

I think this is possible OTB at a team event with a partner. Also you might also be able to use less time because of the touch-move rule. I.e. you both just need to hit your clocks after you let go of the pieces quicker than the opposition players.
If you sit next to your partner and have the opposite colour then you copy the move of the same colour opposition player playing your partner. If you are playing a handicap match with an advantage it should work. I assume there is a rule against it as it's clearly unethical. meh
