First Tournament OTB

Hello. I am entering in my first rated OTB tournament into a 50/15 7 round SS U1200 section. My standard peak is 1520 and I usually play 30/0 games. I am studying tactics and vision exercises on a actual board. My online games are played out in front of me on a board, with a clock. How should I expect to do in this event? Any other tips? I know I'll have fun and meet some new people. Anything would be helpful, thanks in advance!

1. Keep working on tactics.

2. Opening Principles:

Control the center.

Develop towards the center.

Castle.

3. The night before, get a good night sleep.

4. Each morning of the tournament, do some tactics to warm up the brain.

5. Have a light breakfast.

6. Stay hydrated.

7. AVOID energy drinks.

8. Healthy snacks.

9. Walk around during your games, it keeps the blood flowing, and helps you to stay relaxed.

10. Stay away from bullet.

11. Most important of all.  HAVE FUN!

Good Luck, and let us know how you do.

Thank you. Water and orange juice was the plan. Walking, thats a good one! It is in 2 weeks, I will definitely share my results. Really, all good points.

i agree with Diakonia...walk around...it helps so much...first time i stood up from a board in a toueney was in 2005 with the game lasting 3hrs45mins...you could even walk around and get a perspectuve from your opponents side of the board...anyway...good luck😆
