Who did you play? Were they that much stronger? Show us some of the games to compare.

SebastianRock42

It takes a few tournaments to get an accurate rating.  To have an accurate rating, you need enough games against other rated opponents to get a good calculation.  Especially if a lot of your opponents are unrated.

That said, 950 for a 1200 seems a little low, but not "wrong".

Just remember that a rating is not your self-worth, a 900 rating just means you make a good opponent for another 900 opponent, nothing more or less.

play a few more tournaments. You may have underperformed. Adjusting from online to otb takes some time. Because right now, yes, that's a little bad for 1200.

How many games did u play?  Do u have ur 2nd tournament planned or scheduled?

SebastianRock42

i played 5 games and im plan to have one in january i dont know when

dunamisfelis

Me also after maybe 30 matches. I can't play slow chess well with my inexperience. I'll smack pros in bullet though

DreamscapeHorizons

Well I'm sure it was fun.  Everybody I know that started playing in real otb tournaments enjoyed it more than just online chess. The competitive part was way more intense and serious, I think that's a big part of the attractiveness of otb rated events. Plus the people u meet.
