As far i am aware, the pairings are automated and not decided by the TD.
for example if there are four players left then 1 v 3 and 2 v 4 when 1 is the highest ranked player and 4 is the lowest.
if 8 players left 1 v 5, 2 v 6, 3 v 7 and 4 v 8.

I'm in round 9 of the Lawyers, Guns and Money tournament. There are 5 players left. My issue is that I keep getting matched up with the same guy, who happens to have a much higher rating than the remaining players. I've played him two matches in a row now, and have been lucky to survive due to timeouts on his part (for one of the two matches). I am concerned that the tournament directors will give me a third consecutive match with this talented player which doesn't seem fair to me. How are matchups decided? He as the highest rating of the remaining players, and I am not the lowest.
