Hi There!

Im just wondering, on the Upgrade Page it says 3 tournaments at a time with the basic membership, but I can't join a second one because it's telling me I have to upgrade. What's wrong?

Glad for any answer, cheers!

What kind of tournaments?  Online (correspondence or "daily")? Live?

Member created or chess.com created?

Okay, thanks for that information!

So what does that mean then? (in the table)

Is it only for online tournaments? But that doesn't make sense does it? Because you can obviously play only one online game at a time.

And further, if I create a tournament with several groups without being diamond member, does that mean that the tournament has more than one winner because I can only create a one rounded tournament?

  1. "Online" is what they called correspondence Chess. Now they are trying to call it "Daily" Chess. Some people have managed to play thousands of "online" games including dozens of tournaments at a time.
  2. Free members can't create tournaments.

I am in a chess 960 tourney where I have finished my games for my group and now it takes a looong time for the next stage to start. From what I understand I cannot enlist in another tournament, I get a message that says it is because I don't have a subscription. Is that true?

It is annoying because tournaments take months, especially with people taking 45 day holidays ... seriously? Change that please. Or make all tournaments no-vacation tournaments. If someone cannot afford a few minutes every few days to play one move, then he should resign.

With the exception of Official Chess.com tourneys, members set up and define most of the restrictions on tourneys. So, the TD decides if a tourney allows vacation or not.

That said, I thought at one point if you didn't have active games in a tourney it would allow you to join another. Either I'm wrong or they closed that option.

You are allowed to join unlimited Chess.com Official tourneys. Though, for some reason those haven't been showing up for early registration.

For the OP, you are allowed 3 Live tourneys per week as a basic member.

Actually I do have an active game, forgot about that. It is a not-yet-started game against a loser who activated 45 days vacation ... so I guess because of this I am stuck with this one tournament for quite a while.

Basically someone can abuse this long vacation time repeatedly as well as take the maximum time to play a move (3 days) and can single-handedly delay a couple of game and the whole tournament for many months.

You could also withdraw from the tournament you are in and join another.

I believe that if all your games are completed, and the next round has not yet been scheduled, there is no penalty.

He has one game left and the player is on vacation.

Another-Life, if you won't qualify for round 2 then you could resign that game (or if you will qualify with the loss). You will lose rating points, since it is a tourney. As you would with a withdrawal. But that may be an option for you.

Another-Life

There is no way I am resigning a game grin.png

I don't want to withdrew from the tournament either, I am sweeping any and all resistance.

I was wrong, I don't have any active games in that tourney at the moment, I went and joined another one, yay!
