You didn't say what tournament you wanted to play in.
Normally, people are moved based on their rating being higher than the limit. Did you want to enter a tournament for players with ratings below 1200?
I am rated 1300 plus and wanted to join 5/0 blitz for 1200 to 1499 rated players. But they switched me twice to OPEN 5/0 blitz tournament. wasting two of my tournament atttempts of the week. leaving only one more try ! I am not sure why is it happening !

Maybe there weren't enough players for the 1200 to 1499 blitz?
there were 38 players once and more than 10 the other time
You have to have some number of rated games (I think 10) or it'll kick you to open. Also if there aren't enough people it will kick you to open. Either way the message they display isn't particularly helpful, and it'd be nice to have an option to decline before automatically starting a game with someone 600 points ahead of you. You aren't the first to complain.
