Advance 6. Be2 f6!?

Okay, I just played a game where I think I played consistent positional ideas here, and was looking for some basic feedback on a couple of spots in the game.  I will mention the specific spots.

This is a screenshot of the last book move, which was ...0-0-0.  Black seems to have great success in those lines, with the percentage being at 35.7%!

There are seven games played against ...0-0-0, each with a different move, in my database.

I will post Fritz' thoughts in the spots that I was questioning, and then it is off to bed.

At move 10, it also thinks that ...Nh6 is the right choice.

At move 11, it thinks ...a6 was the right choice.  It also likes ...Nf5.

It actually felt that 12. Rc1 was an error, preferring Qd2.  It did like ...Nf5 the best.

It felt that 13. b4 was an error as well, preferring my approach to win the pawn with ...Nxg3.

It also states that 15. b5 was an error, but rather than my ...axb5 (which it views as an error), it recommends the immediate ...Nxf3+ followed by ...Qa5.  This was -2.17 according to Fritz, whereas my ...axb5 was -1.25 (NOTE - after I typed this, it went down to below a pawn advantage!).

Instead of 17...Bc6 (which it views as an error), it prefers ...c4 (which I had debated on as well for what I felt was obvious reasons, but presumed that maybe the bishop move was superior).

At move 18, once again it prefers ...c4 over my ...Bd6.  It gives me only a half-pawn advantage after move 18.

Same thing on move 19!  It likes ...c4, saying my ...e5 is only a half-pawn advantage.  My opponent keeps giving me multiple chances to have a great advantage, and I keep giving it right back.

At move 20, it preferred ...bxc6.  It did prefer ...Qd7 over my ...Kb8, but not by much.

It does not like ...h5 at all, saying that I gave away all advantage.  It prefers ...g6 there.

At ...h4, it says I have given White a slight advantage, preferring the immediate ...Rhg8.

Of course, after he takes on h4, then I have a nice advantage.

I can study these ideas, but curious about what other players think about what I did here.

What is the reasoning behind 4. ... Nc6 instead of cxd4, crippling d4 for the game? Am a fairly low-rated French player, so I am hoping that someone can point out the reason behind this move.
