Dear Members,

The Closed Cordial Chess Club was founded some years ago to be provide a collegial atmosphere for chess players. Intially it was composed of individuals who knew each other from school, work, etc.

It quickly expanded to include individuals who had shown an interest in the club, and it has been a tradition to invite chess players to participate in various tournaments with the intention of interviewing potential candidates for the club.

I've been on a bit of a hiatus recently, and am grateful to the members who were active and took leadership initiative to fill the gap. Going forward, I hope to play some part, but if there are members who are keen to take over the reins it would be great if they would send me a private note.

For those who simply wish to remain as you have been -- active or casual members of this club -- keep doing what you're doing. But for those who have shown little interest, or have been inactive for too long, I am afraid that I must eject you from our company.

As for the future of our ranks. All members should invite those who they think would make a good fit to our club. And in the next few months, I propose that we have an active recruitment drive (i.e. we create tournaments catered to bringing new members in, make posts on chess.com advertising the benefits of membership, and invite our friends and chess mates to join this league of extraordinary gentlemen).
