I am a father of 6 children. My oldest son and third oldest daughter and I play chess every day. We became interested when a friend of ours gave my children a chess/checkers game. My son was intrigued with the chess men and asked me to teach him the game. We learned together and started entering different local tournaments. My daughter followed close behind. We have been enjoying the mental stimulation chess has to offer since the summer of 2009.

I nor my children ever use chess engines or tactics books to help us move during an actual game or tournament.
