2014-2015
1800-1900 playing better in the opening, paying more atention to positional considerations and some improvement in tactics.
2016
1900-2000
Every move counts. Constantly looking for positional improvements as well as tactics shots. I now begin to feel the need to study openings. Often 2100+ players will have squeezed considerable advantage by the end of the opening. Endgame simplification consideration occur much earlier than before. A lot more draws or drawing positions.
The better you get at it, the more fun it is to play.
2018
2000-2100
Things get subtler. Ideas need a lot of preparation before execution. One needs to be happy with small positional improvements, and these need to be found all the time. You realize that most of the time, in fact, there are very few good moves.
If you make a mistake (or even an inaccuracy sometimes), you get used to the opponent punishing it immediately and vice-versa, you are expected to do the same.
Improvement in tactics.
"I need to finally learn how to play most common endgames well."
