I am still hooked on Silman's recent article about beginners forgoing the use of computer chess engines.
Here is my second game analysis. This one was played on lichess.org as 7 8. As black I defeated a higher ranked player who did not develop h...
I enjoyed IM Silman's recent article, "A Chess Engine is NOT Your Friend". I already know Stockfish, my favorite chess engine, is probably subtracting some value from the time I spend studing chess. But, the ariticle is engaging and, more importan...
Here is a missed tactic from a mostly good live game. I played not perfectly - but OK. Opening is book. White misses a small opportunity to take a free pawn. Opposite side castling and dual pawn storms. Black takes a winning advantage in the middl...
Here is a position from a correspondence game where I could not find a decent move. In fact, during the game I thought the position was lost. Whereas in my post-game analysis I am surprised to learn that there is one move that maintains a drawish ...

Can you find the mate in 4?
Here is the actual game:
Here is an analysis of a Live 30 game. This is the third game where I lost the previous two due to careless blunders. In this one I am hyper-focused and maintain the advantage throughout. But, I do miss several tactical opportunities.
I missed an easy checkmate :(

I win a game thanks to an undetected blunder. See if you can find it.

Black to move
I win a live game against a similarly ranked opponent. I make one blunder.
Good correspondence game, winning against a higher ranked opponent. No blunders! Nice end game tactic forces double-attack and wins the exchange.
My second live 30 0 game of the night. This might be one of my best games. I think I made not a single blunder. And, I managed to use positional evaluation more than usual.
I've been on a Minecraft binge for a couple weeks. Here is a very promising game against a higher ranked opponent. Unfortunately, I lose focus in the end game, fail to see a knight fork, give up a significant advantage and then completely crash.
Two winning live games 30 0 on 6-Nov-2012.
Here is analysis of my greatest victory, as black against a 1738 rated player. That is 278 points higher than me.
Computer analysis to follow...
Close game ends in a draw. I managed to take a very strong lead in the late middlegame. But, I blunder to lose the lead. Then both of us blunder to draw.
Houdini indicates white has an extreme advantage in the end game. But, white player failed ...
Here are a few interesting tactics from recent games.
I played for a draw as black, under time pressure, and against a higher ranked opponent. This opportunity occurred several moves before I noticed it.
