Long ago we missed the 60th birthday of Daryl Hannah, who has not been so active onscreen lately, but is poised for the century at 99 screen credits, with some memorable roles, becoming famous with Pris in Blade Runner 1982 and Madison in Splash 1984, then Ayla in The Clan of the Cave Bear & Legal Eagles 1986, Roxanne in Roxanne & Darien Taylor in Wall Street 1987, Steel Magnolias 1989, Grumpy Old Men & Grumpier Old Men 1993&5, Morticia in Addams Family Reunion 1998, My Favourite Martian 1999, Dancing at the Blue Iguana 2000; she also appeared in the Robbie Williams video for Feel 2002, but was Elle Driver in Kill Bill 1 & 2 2003-4; after that her career stalled, which she ascribes to the physical rejection of Harvey Weinstein, but she has been in Hawaii Five-0 2013-14, Sense8 2015-18 and The Now in 2021. Born in Chicago, Illinois and after mother’s remarriage raised in Long Grove, Illinois as a Catholic, she lived for a year in Jamaica when she was diagnosed with autism. Played soccer on the boys team at Francis W Parker School in Chicago as there was no girls team. Graduated from the University of Southern California School of Theatre, and practised ballet and studied drama at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre. Has found other outlets for her talents, making documentaries in an effort to combat human trafficking & slavery and is environmentally active to save the planet; she gave a keynote speech at a UN Climate Change Summit & does numerous others. In 2011 attended the iMatter march against climate change in Denver, Colorado and since has been arrested three times at environmental protests, but then she has twice run after and captured muggers in New York City. She contested the 2005 Gumball 3000 car race in a Range Rover hybrid using biodiesel made from cooking oil as fuel, lives off solar power and drives a car running on recycled fast food grease. In 2018 she married Neil Young in Atascadero, San Luis Obisco County and stays on his yacht berthed in the San Juan Islands, Washington State. She has a ranch home in the Rocky Mountains at Placerville, Colorado and also lives in Malibu.
