I started playing when I was a kid (about nine, I think), got a bit more serious about it for a while in my 20s and played in clubs from time to time . I bought one of the first chess-playing machines back in the 70s, became really interested in computers and played little chess after that. I'm now trying to get back into it at the age of 63, with mixed results – opening theory has left me way behind, and I wouldn't dare to play blitz these days because I find that age definitely slows you down…

Favourite opening: probably the King's Gambit, because I like open lines and attacking play.

And by the way, please visit my website because I'm an occasional poet and I'd like to share my work.
