dad and grandad, like playing chess and backgammon, enjoy gardening, watching sport, F1, NFL, Football and slow & easy cycling on a sunny day, and of course surfing on the internet, and sitting in the sun, dozing. Played chess at school (the 50's) and just as a hobby with friends and family, leaving school played at work during breaks and lunch time, a hard school, no mercy shown or excuses tolerated for poor play. Today a good mental exercise and a great feeling when I win.( not so often these days, but I enjoy a good battle). no favourite opening or defence, but love a good Queen/Bishop diagonal.
