I'm retired military (33yrs total) and a big lover of Chess. Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov & Vladimir Kramnik are my hero's in Chess. I only wish I could play like them. I learned to play Chess late in life on a Apple IIGS using the program (Chessmaster 2100) back in 1988. I now use an iMac, iPad, and my iPhone 6 plus, to play Chess on. If you challenge me to a game the only thing I can guarantee is that I'll put up a good fight...
“One doesn't have to play well, it's enough to play better than your opponent.”
"The battle for the ultimate truth will never be won. And that's why Chess is so fascinating." (Hans Kmoch)
"Like dogs who sniff each other when meeting, chessplayers have a ritual at first acquaintance: they sit down to play speed Chess." (Anatoly Karpov)
"Only he who never plays never loses." (Anatoly Karpov)
"The highest art of the chessplayer lies in not allowing your opponent to show you what he can do." (Garry Kasparov)
"When men lose against me, they always have a headache ... or things of that kind. I have never beaten a completely healthy man!" (Susan Polgar)
"Of Chess it has been said that life is not long enough for it, but that is the fault of life, not Chess." (William Ewart Napier)
"All I want to do, ever, is play Chess." (Bobby Fischer)
"If you wish to succeed, you must brave the risk of failure." (Garry Kasparov)
"Winning is not a secret that belongs to a very few, winning is something that we can learn by studying ourselves, studying the environment and making ourselves ready for any challenge that is in front of us." (Garry Kasparov)
"That's what Chess is all about. One day you give your opponent a lesson, the next day he gives you one." (Bobby Fischer)
“When you see a good move, look for a better one." (Emanuel Lasker)
“The hardest game to win is a won game." (Emanuel Lasker)
“Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make people happy."(Siegbert Tarrasch)
When asked how many moves ahead he looked,Siegbert Tarrasch replied, "I look one move ahead... the best one!"
“Robert Fischer is a law unto himself."(Larry Evans)
"I don't look at computers as opponents. For me it is much more interesting to beat humans." (Magnus Carlsen)
“No one ever won a game by resigning”(Saviely Tartakower)
“Many have become Chess Masters,no one has become the Master of Chess."(Siegbert Tarrasch)
