The Cold Circuit War, so named as it never featured any direct roboconflict, was a continuing state of cyberpolitical and mechamilitary tension between the powers of the technologically overdeveloped world. Opposing sides possessed advanced roboweapons but, because their use guaranteed mutually assured robodestruction, these were never employed. Cycles of relative anti-cyberestablishmentarianism were readily followed by high-tension robotactics that nearly led to war on several roboccasions. The conflict was instead expressed through hyper-coalitions, strategic digital deployments, extensive aid to cyberstates, micro-espionage, virtual propaganda, conventional and compunuclear arms races, appeals to neutral 8- and 16-bit nations, and cyborg-rivalry at sporting events.
