Grandmasters Parimarjan Negi and Alejandro Ramirez have both confirmed their participation in Chess.com's 10th Blitz Chess Death Match, set to take place on January 12th, 2013 - with pre-match interviews starting at 6:00 PM Pacific, 9:00 PM Eastern.

Due to multiple scheduling difficulties around the holiday season and other major chess events, Chess.com will not be hosting a Death Match in November or December; however, we are excited to have the caliber players of Negi and Ramirez committed to compete in the first match of the new year!

It would seem the initial favorite "on paper" would be GM Negi, who comes in rated 2638 FIDE, and ranked #5 in India. Negi boasts a World Ranking #121.

However, GM Alejandro Ramirez -- A.K.A. LittlePeasant in the "internet chess world" -- is as active an online blitz player as any Grandmaster. As a Chess.com Ambassador, Alejandro is very familiar with the Live Chess interface, and will be very comfortable in the "Death Match Arena"!

Ramirez holds a current FIDE Rating of 2554. Though originally from Costa Rica, Ramirez recently trasferred federations, and is currently ranked  #20 in US, #413 in the World.

We hope everyone will join International Masters Daniel Rensch and David Pruess as they cover all the action live on www.Chess.com/TV - The show will be open to all Chess.com Members, and the games can be followed in Live Chess.
