Grand Pacific Open 2017

Hi everyone. The Victoria chess club will be hosting the 11th annual Grand Pacific Open this Easter Long Weekend in beautiful Victoria, BC. This is typically the largest local tournament of the year, usually drawing players from all over BC and Washington state. The VCC's events are always well-organized and classy (above photo depicts the 2014 GPO). The event will be FIDE and CFC-rated, so a valid CFC membership is required to play. First time tournament players are eligible to receive a free CFC membership for the duration of the tournament.

Where: Grand Pacific Hotel (Victoria, BC) 463 Belleville St.

When: April 14-17, 2017 (first round 6pm, April 14)

Format: Six-round Swiss tournament with 4 different rating sections (u1200, u1700, u2000, Premier)

Registration: $80 if you register online before March 6; $90 if you register online after March 6; and $100 to register on site on March 14 (discounts applied for multiple family members and titled players)

Prizes: over $5000 dollars to be dispersed among top players in all four sections; separate prizes to be awarded for best unrated and best women players as well
