Win Cash Prizes During Carlsen vs Nakamura Tomorrow

I'm excited for Thursday's Blitz Battle Championship match and want to give my appreciation (on behalf of all of Chess.com) to the fans for supporting us!

How are we showing our appreciation? During the GM Blitz Battle finals, we will be tracking all those playing "Guess The Move" in our Live Chess interface. At the end of the three hours of play, prizes will be given to the most consistent and most accurate guessers.

The prizes:

  • 1st: $250 cash and a lifetime Diamond Membership
  • 2nd-5th: one-year Diamond Membership
  • 6th-10th: one-year Gold Membership

Even if you don't win a prize, Guess The Move is a really fun, educational way to follow along as titled players and others play blitz and bullet. If you still haven't competed in a Guess The Move challenge on Chess.com, now's the time to try it! The steps are as easy as 1, 2, 3:

1) Log on to the new Chess.com by clicking here...

...on your home page or by visiting Chess.com/switch directly.

It looks like this once you've logged in to the new site:

2) Log on to the new live server under Play:

3) Make your guesses!

Once you're following a game (any game, but on the day of the match, obviously you'll want to follow the Nakamura vs Carlsen game) you can make moves on the board while the players play. Your guesses will show up like this:

and you can see a list of your guesses, both correct and incorrect as you go:

and you can even cancel a guess if you change your mind before the player moves by right-clicking on the board:

Now that I have your attention, I'd also like to give you two more reasons to consider going to Chess.com/switch to watch the Blitz Battle finals:

Reason #1 -- You can watch the game with no distractions in "Focus Mode":

We recently launched a long-awaited (and often-requested) feature to allow users to block out all the distractions of announcements, kibitzers, notation scrolling, timestamps, et.c and just really zone in like a tournament game.

You can now do this in two ways on the new Chess.com. Like this:

or this:

And it looks like this:

Reason #2 -- Don't believe the commentary team? Check our moves with the Stockfish engine!

Sometimes, GM Robert Hess and I are more focused on delivering educational tips than we are on giving precise, well-calculated variations. (Yeah right, who are you kidding Danny, you're more focused on delivering well-timed, awkward jokes ). #touche

In those moments of distraction or misinformed analysis, it's now easy to check what really happened in the game with just a couple clicks:

First, have Chess.com/analysis open in a second tab while your first tab is in live chess.

Second, when the game or position is reached that you want to check, click here:

Then grab the FEN or PGN:

like this:

Enter it into the analysis game editor in your second tab:

And see what Stockfish thinks:

Thanks again to all of you for your support, and best of luck to all the guessers out there!
