Some while ago we missed the 50th birthday of Ethan Hawke, who in a career with 90 screen credits has achieved popularity and industry acclaim too, being nominated four times for Oscars – Best Supporting Actor for Training Day 2001 & Boyhood 2014 (also BAFTA & Golden Globe nominationss), Best Adapted Screenplay for Before Sunset 2004 & Before Midnight 2013, also a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a limited series for The Good Lord Bird 2020. Born in Austin, Texas in1981 his family settled in Princeton Junction, New Jersey; educated West Windsor-Plainsboro High School then transferred to Hun School of Princeton, where he began taking acting classes at the on-campus McCarter Theatre from an early age, also finding he had skills at writing as well as acting, and has since written two novels. He was admitted to prestigious Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but dropped out to take his breakthrough role in Dead Poets Society 1989. He mixed theatre work with onscreen throughout his early years. He moved to New York, where for a year he studied at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn. In 2004 he was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Currently he lives in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn and he also owns a small island in Novia Scotia, Canada. Is a great fan of the New York Yankees and a huge fan of the rock group Wilco.
