ALRIGHT, I’M MARKUS – NICE TO MEET YOU!

Cheers for popping by my bio! I’m chuffed you’ve made it here. At forty-four, I’m living the bachelor life and absolutely loving my gigs as a travel blogger, novelist and literary translator.

FROM EASTERN EUROPE EXPERT TO STORYTELLER

In my “past life”, I spent nearly a decade gallivanting around Eastern Europe as a Senior Key Account Manager and Area Sales Manager. Blimey, those were some exciting times! I wasn’t just sealing deals with big cheeses; I was diving headfirst into Eastern European cultures. From knocking back vodka toasts in Moscow to endless nights in Prague’s beer gardens — I’ve done it all and loved every minute!

THE CALL OF MY HEART

But here’s the kicker — deep down, I had this secret passion I’d been bottling up for half my life: writing! One day, I thought to myself, “Markus, it’s now or never, mate!” No sooner said than done! I grabbed my trusty MacBook and plunged into the fantastic world of words. Was it a bit bonkers to jack in my successful career as an Eastern Europe whizz? Too right it was! Do I regret it? Not on your nelly!

WHEN I’M NOT BLOGGING OR WRITING…

Playing chess. Fancy a game of online chess? I’m always up for a challenge!

Swimming like there’s no tomorrow. My flip-flops and I are practically joined at the hip, I tell you! ;)

Or brushing up on languages. I’ve got German, English and Russian under my belt, and now I’m tackling Greek — opa! (That’s about all the Greek I know so far, but watch this space!)

And then there’s Ayia Napa. Oh, Cyprus! Aphrodite’s island has well and truly stolen my heart. The picture-postcard landscapes, the rich history, the mouthwatering grub — souvlaki, here I come!

Just when I think I’ve seen it all, this sun-soaked paradise throws another surprise my way. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, I tell you!
