Problem ID: 0044682
As IM Rensch would say: "Kick the Pony!"
Wouldn't be better for white to lose the knight rather than the bishop? That is, instead of Nf3, playing Rd1 or simply running away with the bishop? Allowing that pawn on the 3rd rank sounds to me as a terrible idea!
Seems like the c3 pawn turns into a weakness after Nb5 anyway. Saving the bishop would permit black to shore up the d4 pawn with ...e5, with dreams of trapping white's queen.
Caveat: this is my own engine-free, quick-and-dirty analysis!
Well, that was a nice checkmate! .... by my opponent :(
Bah! Got it right, but my mouse slipped!
only 8 points??
trying to be quick, my pawn slipped to h5, hate when that happens #poorhandeyecoordinationinthemorning
another morning and another stupid problem, why the timer and why no pgn or fen's....chickens...
I play so bad now. I managed to move the rook to e8.
Solved, but way too slow. Anyway, better than the first attempt.
