Doesn't (edit) Bxf6 Bxf6 and then the Rxe6 and Bc4 combo win the queen?

I did not see that black cannot guard the knight with Rd8. White simply takes the rook of the board with the bisshop, guarded by the queen at a5. Nice problem.

In the final postion, doesn't black save his queen by playing Kh8, and moving the queen after Bxd5 (maybe to e5 to pin the bishop to the queen)?

I opted for Nc3, which seems to end up with the same result (winning the knight).  If black takes the knight with the pawn (...dxc3), the bishop takes the knight winning the queen.  Otherwise, white wins the knight.

Nc3 is better according to Fritz. This one should be removed…

Woo Hoo!  That was tough but fair.  Decoy, pin, and win.

Count me in the 90%+ that missed the last move.  I tried Be7, threatening the rook.  Then when QxB, BxN+, and wins the rook afterward.  But, black could simply move the rook instead of capturing.

    @ Pyralis

    3.  Nc3 PxN, 4. BxN doesn't win the queen, black ignores the bishop and 4. ...PxQ!  I guess you could try and catch up by 5. Rd3, but the fact you're playing catch up instead of winning a piece shows this isn't as good as the solution.

Nothing wrong with 3. Nc3 except that 3. Qa5 is quite a bit better.

Now rated 1383 with a pass rate of 10.5% and average time 3:49. That is a hard one for sure. I got first two moves and missed third but got +4. Smile
