The bishop rays are a lot more powerful than one can imagine. In this game between the two of the highest rated players in all of chess, the endgame looks somewhat equal. White has just moved 40. Bc5, aiming for the checkmate on f8 and attacking the bishop on c6 at the same time. It looks like Black has to give up a Bishop in order to save checkmate.
