Psychologist of Trantor, invited to join the Second Foundation when Stettin Palver and Wanda Seldon discovered that he had mental powers similar to their own. He eventually joined the Encyclopedia Galactica project on Terminus, where he gave training in psychology to, among others, Salvor Hardin. Although the first operation of the Time Vault revealed that Alurin was part of the Foundation rather than the Encyclopedia project, his role as a Second Foundationer was never discovered by the Foundation.
