Hi Everybody, Since Vote Chess World Cup 2013 is going to start soon, I would like to start a discussion about how Team Estonia can best approach vote chess. I don't have very much personal experience with vote chess, but Johan Palmaer has encouraged me to explore a few of the Chess Society vote chess matches to observe how one team approaches vote chess. One comment: Based on our games so far, I don't think we are going to have a lot of success as a team, simply because we aren't taking the time to discuss our moves. To have a strong team, we need to look at each other's ideas BEFORE voting (since once you vote, you can't change your vote). Here's my proposal for the "Best Practice for Team Estonia Vote Chess". I took some of these ideas from similar documents created by Team Europe and Chess Society. SOME BASIC RULES:- Please set the flag "Notify me for new comments" when you join the game. - Please carefully read all comments before submitting your vote, especially any comments submitted by our best players. - In the opening moves of the game, let's play moves that have been statistically proven to be strong (Game Explorer: http://www.chess.com/explorer/). For each opening move, someone should post our best choices in private comments. - Let's work together with victory as our goal. Logically, I believe this means we should follow the suggestions of our strongest players. For example, sregor22 (2221) has been involved in many of our current games. He has made a number of suggestions that we haven't followed. Why? Please post any other suggestions and ideas here.

I would like to quickly discuss cheating in correspondence chess games (such as our league matches). 1. Here is what chess.com has to say: http://support.chess.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/124/2/cheaters--cheating-what-you-need-to-know 2. It is ALLOWED to consult opening databases such as here: http://www.chess.com/explorer/ If you are NOT using this resource in your league games, why NOT? Because your opponent IS using it! 3. Chess programs and engines are NOT ALLOWED. Two of our best players (sregor22, Rura1980) had their accounts closed in December and I assume this is why. 4. You are NOT ALLOWED to have multiple accounts. Be careful if you have a friend who is also a chess.com member, because if you log in from their computer, chess.com might think you have multiple accounts. If you have any questions, please ask. And please learn to use the Game Explorer for openings (if you don't already use it). Note: Different rules apply to live chess.

Eelregistreerimine kestab kuni 25. maini 2017. Osavõtusoovist teatada hiljemalt 25. maiks e-posti aadressil jrregistreerimine@gmail.com. Registreerimiseks tuleb edastada järgnevad andmed: Ees- ja perenimi, Kategooria (kuni 12-aastased või täiskasvanud), Kontakt (e-mail, telefoninumber), Elukoht (omavalitsuse täpsusega). Palun täpsusta ka, kust said informatsiooni malevõistluse kohta (e-mail, Facebook, ajalehed, muu).
The new World League season is starting on January 15. We need 4 more players to avoid a default. Please join the match!

[I received this message from Marignon. Anyone want to help? I am no longer a team admin.] Hello! None of new Estonian admins have joined the Eurasian League group. http://www.chess.com/groups/view/-eurasian-league although I have sent them invitations. Consequenly, the 14th round match vs Дружба is not started. Judging by provisional results http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/--201518 Estonia has already faced with almost all leading teams. You have good chances to rise to the midtable in the remaining matches. Best Regards, Yury
Hea malesõber! Tänan, et oled varasematel aastatel osalenud Paul Kerese tänava kiirmaleturniiril. Loodan, et saad ka tänavu osa võtta. Vabaõhuturniir toimub 23. mail kell 11.00-16.00 vanas harjunud kohas, Suure Meistri kodu lähedal, Kerese tänava ja Lootuse puiestee nurgal asuvas pargis Nõmmel. Üritus on jätkuvalt kõigile osavõtjatele tasuta ning toimub Nõmme Kevade raames. Korraldame kaks turniiri – kuni 12-aastaste (k.a) turniir ja eraldi vanemate turniir. Turniirid toimuvad šveitsi süsteemis 7 vooruga (vastavalt mängijate arvule võib voorude arv muutuda, selgub kohapeal). Mänguaeg on 20 minutit partiile (10 minutit mõlemale vastasele). Loomulikult võivad ka kuni 12-aastased soovi korral osaleda täiskasvanute turniiril, kuid arvestada tuleb, et turniirid toimuvad samaaegselt. Enne malemängu algust kuulame Euroopa meistri ja rahvusvahelise suurmeistri Tatjana Fomina mõtteid Paul Kerese ning male teemal. Eelregistreerimine on kohustuslik ja kestab kuni 21. maini 2015 aadressil Ühtlasi palume kõigil mängijatel võistluspäeval kohale tulla hiljemalt kell 10.30 ja nimi ka kohapeal kirja panna. Kõige austusega Jüri Ratas
Tervist! Mis maa tiimiga keegi võistelda soovib? Ise pakuks järgmisena Soomet.
Hey Everybody, WL 2012 is beginning and we were "upgraded" from Division "E" to Division "D" this year. Last year, we started poorly but our performance got better over the year. We finished #7 out of 12 places. If you want to see the 2011 results, click here: http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/wl-2011-division-e One comment: Please don't join these matches and time out! Nobody cares if you time out your own games, but you hurt the team if you join a match and time out after a few moves. You can use your vacation in many cases to avoid time-outs. Now I'll post some info for WL 2012. Please join these games and fight to win for Team Estonia! Here is the schedule: "Rounds start on 13-Mar, 17-Apr, 22-May, 26-Jun, 7-Aug, 11-Sep, 23-Oct and 4-Dec." I want to invite some more Estonian players to join Team Estonia, but I thought it would be nice to write the message in Estonian. Can anybody translate this for me? *** Tere! Please join Team Estonia and play in our matches vs. teams from around the world. We play in the European League and World League on chess.com. We also play Chess960 matches. garbo999 (Team Estonian admin) ***
Just a quick report on the status of our World League matches. Let's start with the good news: World League 2012 R2: Team Estonia vs. Thailand: Team Estonia wins (currently, 15.5 to 2.5 with 2 games to go). Good job, everyone. World League 2012 R1: Team Peru vs. Team Estonia: We won 12.5 - 11.5. Good job, tmev! World League 2012 R3: Team Schweiz Suisse Svizzera vs. Team Estonia: We lost a very close match here! However, we did manage to beat Switzerland in our European League rematch with them. World League 2012 R4: Team Nigeria vs Team Estonia: This is an unhappy match for us (losing by 9 - 22) but Nigeria is a much bigger country than Estonia and they have some good players. World League 2012 R5: Nicaragua vs Team Estonia: This match started in August and we are ahead 5.5 - 2.5. We are well positioned to win this match because we appear to have stronger players on all the boards. But please no time-outs. (result: TEAM ESTONIA wins!) World League 2012 R6: Team Norway vs Team Estonia: Just started on 12 September 2012. (latest news: what a disaster -- we have had 7 time-outs in this match and i fear we will lose it! i deleted two players from the team because of this match: ralfindus and sillu102) World League R7: Singapore - Estonia: Started on 23 October and we already won this one. World League 2012 R8: Team Estonia vs. Team Turkmenistan: Started on 4 December and we are slightly behind at this time (17 December) but I hope we have a good chance to win. That's all the World League news. I will write about European League soon. Thanks, everyone, for your games.
Now is the time to sign up for the Vote Chess World Cup that starts in January 2013. If anyone is interested in participating, please write a quick comment in this thread to let me know. I will sign up Team Estonia to participate if there is sufficient interest. Thanks, garbo999
