Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody was a renowned Auror and a pivotal member of the Order of the Phoenix during both the First and Second Wizarding Wars. He was born in 1957 in Scotland, Great Britain, and was a pure-blood wizard from a family of famous Aurors. Moody was known for his paranoia and use of Dark Detectors like Sneakoscopes and Foe Glasses, which stemmed from his many adventures and encounters with dark wizards.45

Moody was captured by Barty Crouch Jr., who impersonated him as the Defense Against the Dark Arts (DADA) professor at Hogwarts in 1994. Crouch Jr. used Polyjuice Potion to mimic Moody's appearance and behavior, successfully fooling staff and students for almost the whole year.26 The real Moody was held captive in a trunk, but was eventually freed and rejoined the Order of the Phoenix.69

Moody did not teach much during his time at Hogwarts, as he mentioned to Harry Potter, "I don't know so much about 'Professor'. Never got round to much teaching, did I?".27 After his release, he declined the position of DADA professor due to the danger it posed.9

Moody was known for his bravery and played a crucial role in protecting Harry Potter and in the fight against Voldemort. He was eventually killed on July 27, 1997, at the age of 40, in South England, Great Britain.
