I’ll begin this mini-biography by sharing how I got into chess. My dad taught me how the pieces moved when I was about five years old, but at the time, I didn’t really care about it all that much because I thought it was boring and was more interested in playing with toys. This is one thing that I regret, because I’ve come to appreciate and enjoy the game more than I ever thought. I wish I had dedicated more time to it when I was younger. I first got serious about learning how to play chess during my freshman year of high school. I completed the beginner lessons on Chess.com, and I also completed puzzles each day after I created my account. Additionally, I watched Daniel Naroditsky’s YouTube speedrun videos, and they were immensely helpful in helping me learn different openings, as well as tactical and positional concepts.

Here I’d like to thank everyone involved in my chess improvement journey, starting with my family. They have been so incredibly supportive of my interest in chess, even though they are nowhere near as interested as I am. They have encouraged me when I shared my accomplishments, like reaching 1000 or reaching 1200, and have also sympathized with me when I shared my frustrations and disappointments. Without their continued support and care for me, my chess journey would be drastically different, if not non-existent. Second, I’d like to thank Daniel Naroditsky for making it so easy to understand chess concepts. His YouTube speedruns have loads of instructive content catered to every level, and everyone can take away something from his videos. It was through this medium that I was able to skyrocket my rating and rapidly improve. Third, I’d like to thank the officers of my university’s chess club. They’ve helped me better understand positional concepts, and I would not be at the level I am now without their help.

Finally, and most importantly, I’d like to thank God for His continued blessings in my life. I would not have been able to improve without His allowance of it. I’m also eternally grateful for His gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to earth to die to save humanity from sin so that we could have an everlasting relationship with Him in heaven. After accepting this gift, God has richly blessed my life beyond my wildest dreams. This gift is for you as well; Jesus so wants to have a close relationship with you, He wants to bless your life, and He wants you to spend eternity with Him.
