Hello! My name is Sourish Kavale, and I am a 9th grader at Walton High School in Marietta, GA. I started playing chess when I was 5 years old, and I played my first chess tournament in 2nd grade. In my 7 years as a professional chess player, I have played nearly 200 tournaments and won over 30 chess awards, including 6 trophies at States (2018 NC Scholastic, 2018 NC Closed, 2019 NC Scholastic, 2019 GA Grades, 2019 GA Class, 2020 GA Grades) and 2 at Nationals (2019, 2021). I am the #2 ninth grader and #13 high schooler in the state (georgiachess.org/Top_Scholastic_Players). My favorite chess book is Candidates Tournament, Zurich 1953 by David Bronstein, which I read in 7th grade.
