TimMoroney

Hello, my name is Tim Moroney. This page is my resource for chess updates and news along my path to the FM title and, hopefully, beyond. Here you will find blog coverage of my events as well as thoughts and insights into the chess world. I have been competitive in chess for 9 years, since the age of eleven. This works as a great reminder of age(!) and makes me 20 years old now, for those who are counting. Savielly Tartakower once said, "All chessplayers should have a hobby." I've chosen to heed that advice; mine include schooling, stage acting, competitive bowling, poetry writing, many other strategy games, and occasional musical dabblings. Over the years I have earned 5 scholastic National Championship titles; among them are the K-9 National Youth Action Championship (co-championed with Derek Lyon, a talented player from IL) in 2002, and the K-12 National Youth Action Championship (clear first) in 2005, as well as U.S. Junior Open (co-champ) in 2008. Thank you for stopping by my site and sharing your support and interest. Please feel free to contact me and keep in touch!
