stephen_33; i can see that no absolute defense possible; but in your first move itself if take the knight using the blacks knight you can delay;also in the 2nd move instead saving the king if you check the white king by using the queen you can delay it further;this sure will be helpful in time limited games.
saurabhchopra; MATE IN TWO IS POSSIBLE; FIRST MOVE YOUR KNIGHT CLOSE TON THE BLACK KING TO F7 CHECK; FOLLOWED BY THE OTHER KNIGHT TO G5;MATE
this was the coolest puzzle in a while. found it quite challenging.
Nice one. Am I missing something or could I have moved the knight also somewhere else? In my opinion it just needed to free way for the queen. The black pawn could have stayed where it was.
The white knight must move to f5 on move one because white is threatening immediate checkmate on move two with Qxg7. And if the knight moves to e6 on move one, the only other knight move which threatens 2. Qxg7+, then black has 1...Kxe7. If 1. Nb5, for instance, black can defend, and possibly attack, with 1...Rxf2.
I wonder if there were other responses to white's first move that might have worked better for black.
A little tricky
@ajkannan even I first thought that, but after white Ng5, black plays Kg8 and he is again safe ..
Since I missed this puzzle, I was hoping that shouting out the page number of this post would help overcome my feelings of inadequacy. After all, that must be the reason those on the first page do it.
It didn't help. Not at all!
This first move was definetly quite hard.
Very nice... a typical SATURDAY puzzle.
Tricky but easy
Cool :) !
A little tricky today... I Like It!!!
