Recently it was the 10th anniversary of the passing of James McArthur at the age of 72 in 2010. He is of course famous as the recipient of the phrase "Book him, Danno" in the original Hawaii Five-0, where he was the second string Danny Williams to Jack Lord's Steve McGarrett 1968-79, with a guest appearance in the new series in 1997. With the fame and income from that series, he invested heavily in the Hawaiian islands. Born in Los Angeles and the adopted son of Helen Hayes, he grew up in Nyack, New York but graduated in New Hope, Pennsylvania as a capable sports star and took a slow path to acting, working mostly behind the scenes in stage productions in Maryland and Massachusetts and as an assistant stage manager for his mother in Cape Cod. He eventually broke through and was in the Disney films Swiss Family Robinson and Kidnapped 1960. His youthful looks stereotyped him for naivety and inexperience, which he displayed in The Bedford Incident and Battle of the Bulge 1965 and Hang 'Em High 1868 before he found fame as above.
