The Malaviyan Chess Society (TMCS), established in 2025 as a student-driven initiative inspired by the university’s tradition of excellence, stands as the official chess body of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur. Conceived to bridge the classical depth of Chaturanga with modern analytical excellence, the Society promotes chess as both a competitive sport and a cerebral discipline.

Open to all students, TMCS fosters strategic thought, composure under pressure, and ethical play through regular tournaments, lectures, and analytical workshops.

Its guiding ideal —
“सर्वे चतुरंगं, एकं धर्मं यथार्थं”
(“All through Chaturanga, one dharma — truth.”) —
reflects its commitment to truth, discipline, and unified growth through the royal game.
